Mithas Street Food Festival 2014

We are excited to confirm that our popular ‘Indian Street Food Festival’ will be running again this year from Tues 1st – Thurs 17th July.

For £29.95 guests will be treated to three courses, each consisting of a range of traditional Indian Street Food including:

Dhokla (Starter): A vegetarian snack originating from the Indian state of Gujarat. Made with batter, rice and chickpeas.

Raj Kachori (Starter): A spicy chaat (fried dough) bowl filled with various delicious flavours.

Poriyal (Main): A fried vegetable dish brought to life by a touch of spice.

Kabila Dal (Main): A traditional lentil dish with our own special selection of spices

Ras Malai (Dessert): Ras means juice or juicy and Malai means cream. This could be described as a rich cheesecake without a crust.

Millions of people enjoy these lite bites everyday but they are relatively unknown in Scotland. Mithas’ ‘Indian Street Food Festival’ provides the opportunity to explore deeper into Indian cuisine and experience Indian food like never before.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Mithas wins ‘Restaurant Of The Year’ at CIS Excellence Awards 2014

Mithas is very proud to be the first Indian restaurant to win ‘Restaurant of the Year’ at the CIS Excellence Awards.

Judges said, “When you visit, it is advisable to leave whatever you think or know about Indian dining at the door. We were impressed with the way in which Mithas manages to avoid clichés on the menu and with the décor. Skillfully combining local produce with a tempting range of spices, it offers several tasting menus and a very decent wine list.”

Group General Manager Jaimon George commented, “‘Going for a curry’ is the last thing we offer. Instead we have taken Scotland’s love of Indian food and mixed that with great local produce and exotic spices to produce stunning dishes that have never been seen before in Scotland.”

Winning this award puts Mithas in a good position to go after an elusive Michelin Star, a goal that has been in place since opening in late 2011.
