CLEMENTINES IN SEASON, AND AT THEIR BEST

Come along to Mithas and find out what we've been creating with this fabulous seasonal ingredient.
MITHAS USES SEASONAL PRODUCE
Bramley apples are currently in season, and at their best. Mithas is currently using these to produce some spectacular desserts.
At Mithas we realise the benefits of using and selecting seasonal produce. It's better for you, better for the planet, and it tastes absolutely wonderful too. Using seasonal produce helps to protect the environment. And because the food is not stored for long periods of time, it contains more nutrients.
MITHAS SUPPORTING ST COLUMBA'S HOSPICE
Throughout the year we are delighted to be supporting the work of a local charity. St Columba’s Hospice is currently going through a major rebuilding project and to help provide the necessary funds, we are holding monthly guest chef nights at Mithas. The aim of these evenings is to give specially invited chefs the chance to add their magic to the Mithas menu and all for a very good cause.
Roy Brett from Ondine was the first to take the challenge and he has been followed by Nick Nairn and the acclaimed London chef Cyrus Todiwala.
“All the evenings have been brilliant in different ways’, said Mithas owner Islam Mohammed. “The customers love the experience and it creates an amazing buzz in the kitchen. We’re also proud and delighted to be supporting such an important local charity”.
The Mithas Guest Chef programme will continue throughout 2012.

GUEST CHEF NIGHTS
Throughout 2012, Mithas is staging a series of Guest Chef nights to raise funds for St Columba’s Hospice.
The idea is to give a range of well known chefs from different backgrounds the chance to take over the award winning Mithas kitchen for one-night-only.
So far Nick Nairn and Roy Brett have stepped up to the challenge and on Sunday May 27th the man in charge will be one of the biggest names in Indian food in this country.
Cyrus Todiwala - May 27th, 2012
Cyrus has held a Michelin Bib Gourmand for 15 years at his popular central London restaurant CafĂ© Spice. A regular on the BBC’s Saturday Kitchen, Cyrus has helped shape Indian cooking in this country.
He is promising to give diners a unique experience with a special menu based on the best Scottish ingredients and the skills and techniques he has built up over 30 years in the business.
“This will be a very special night for all lovers of Indian food”, said Mithas owner Islam Mohammed. “Cyrus is one of the great names of Indian cookery in this country and led the movement taking it in a different, more adventurous direction. That is what we are doing in Edinburgh so Cyrus at Mithas should be an amazing evening”.
At the end of March, Cyrus became the first Indian chef to cook a banquet for the Queen when he delivered a special Royal lunch for the Diamond Jubilee celebrations.
On May 27th, he could be cooking for you.
